As an
eagle stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young; as it
spreads its wings, takes them up, and bears them aloft on
its pinions, the LORD alone guides US. (Deu 32:11 NRSV) He shall cover thee
with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust:
His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (Psa 91:4 KJV)
This rendering depicts
the multi-faceted spirit of the eagle and Americans...the
nurturing quality and the fighting trait. The Collage
provokes us to remember that a Mighty-Majestic yet
Loving-Nurturing God who neither slumbers nor sleeps
watches from on high.
It provides a collage
of familiar scenes that so many of us remember from the
days following that day we will never forget. It focuses
on that, which is most important to us, the coming
together of hearts that were touched that day. I saw the
eagle with a tear in his eye. I saw many pictures of the
destruction, But somehow my heart cried out for a
depiction that reflected hope, love, security and all the
things we as Americans need to feel right now. We need a
reminder that God responds to the prayer of even just one
of his own.
The eagle sees a woman
on her knees praying and is moved to compassion …briefly
hovers over His young-troubled people before His
protective nature takes over. See Him as He spreads His
wings decisively and ascends in a powerfully-commanding-
way to render “Infinite Justice” upon His enemies. As the
eagle ascends the symbol of peace and comfort ...the dove
with the olive branch comes to rest on the American Flag.
The evil doers did not disrupt the focus of the great
eagle but motivated it to greater resolve and
determination. Guard US as the apple of the eye; hide US
in the shadow of your wings, (Psa 17:8 NRSV) |
