When we pray for the will of God,
we must understand that it is “His Will” for us to
willingly climb upon the “Potter’s Wheel”. Can you
imagine the clay telling the potter what it wants to
be and how it wants the process to be accomplished? It
does not work that way ...we must submit to being out
of control and under His Mighty Hand. In the process,
He is adding of trust, love and faith ...ingredients
that are of the utmost importance to the finished
vessel we are to become. If we do not perceive the
purpose of the wheel, we become very uncomfortable and
begin to cry out to get off the wheel. Can you imagine
the lump of clay squirming and wiggling during the
process? The Potter’s Wheel is always in balance, the
malformed-maladjusted clay causes the wheel to wobble
and feel uncomfortable
He is the potter ...we are the
clay. An artisan always knows what the final product
will look like when it is done ...what the piece can
be if it cooperates.
He has a vision of each vessel
...a specific purpose for each. Someone is waiting and
relying on your vessel to bring a certain substance
into their lives ...perhaps precious wine for the King
... water for a dry and parched soul ...healing
ointment ...anointing oil ... food to the hungry. What
is your vessel destined to carry for the Master?
See the vessels over in the corner and up on the
shelf! Some have become hard ...refusing to cooperate
in the process. Some are pretty on the outside... but
cracked or contaminated on the inside. The loving and
patient Potter has set the vessels aside for a season
until they are ready to remain on the wheel
...enduring the process while He remakes them as seems
good to Him. He has confidence in them, which is why
He has not thrown them away yet. He believes that
eventually they will submit to the process ...willing
to become a vessel suitable for the Master’s use
...looking toward the goal that is set before them.
You may be marred, broken or hard
...you may feel that you are the one set on the
shelf... but if you will perceive the purpose of the
wheel and not question the character and nature of the
Potter, you can become what He ordained you to be.
Always remember that the Potter
keeps His hand on the clay while it is on the wheel.
His full focus and attention is on that work that is
being wrought ... See that when the clay gets off the
wheel His hand is removed and destiny is delayed.
