The
Migrant Workers …The Chronicle
Jesus
saith unto them, “My meat is to do the will of him that
sent me, and to finish his work. Say not, there are yet
four months, and then comes harvest? Behold, I say unto
you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they
are white already to harvest. And he that reaps receives
wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he
that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. And
herein is that saying true, one sows, and another reaps. I
sent you to reap that whereon you bestowed no labor: other
men labored, and you are entered into their labors.” John
4:34-38 KJV
Migrant
workers (sojourners) are forever on the move. Their place
of residence is not their home ...they are just passing
through. They live in a place for the harvest season
...packed, ready, and always aware of the next place of
harvest. They are not picky (pardon the pun) about who
they labor or live along side. Their vision and focus is
always “harvest”. They don’t wait for the next harvest to
come to them ...awake or asleep they see harvest. They do
not bicker about methods ...if there is a better way to
gather the harvest they are open to it. It would be absurd
for laborers ...in a field “ripe to harvest” ...about to
be damaged by a storm ...to insist on using a sickle, when
a threshing machine is available. Can they justify a “lost
harvest” by saying”, “my father used a sickle so will I”?
Think about how long it took Jesus and the disciples to
evangelize because of the limited methods of their time.
The tools that we have at our disposal would boggle the
minds of the Disciples of Old. We cannot sit in the
“church” when the harvest is in the field. We cannot
continue to let the enemy dominate all the different
Medias that God has provided to “Go into the World”.
As “migrant workers” –“laborers in the
field” ...our eyes must be on the harvest. Our resolve
must be to harvest the crop as quickly as possible while
it is still day ...for tomorrow may bring a storm and the
“harvest may be lost” forever. We are not to say, “it is
four months, and then comes harvest”... for there are
those who “in four months” will have slipped away into
their eternity and lost forever. Saints have prayed for
centuries, “Send forth laborers into to the field”. He is
sending us to reap where we did not plant and there is
great reward for the labor done unto the master. It is not
too late for you to go. Do you not know that He pays the
eleventh hour workers the same wages as those who have
toiled all day?
