The
Alabaster Box
The accounts in Matt 26:7-13 and Mark 14:3-9 seem to be of
the same incident while the one in Luke 7:37-39 seems to
the one that reveals the gracious love of Jesus.
Regardless of which account you choose, the story of the
woman and her alabaster box are among the most memorable
ones in the New Testament. Songs and entire books have
been written on the subject; they tell the story perhaps
better than I could. Like most the renderings and
chronicles, they do not attempt to portray the literal
story or account. It present a setting for you to visit or
abide where the Lord will minister its personal meaning
for you. I can take you to that place of revelation that
He worked through me.
This
rendering seems to want to offer
us a glimpse of past, present and future. Open doors,
various portals of time, stairs, and depth perspectives…
this piece brings much revelation. I began with the
concept but did not begin to receive the message until
mid-stream. I can feel the influence of some dreams
I had in December 2005 regarding dominion over time. I
believe we can step outside of time into the spirit realm
to see and experience revelation. The ‘time’ revelation
that I experienced in the dreams is still unfolding even
as it is depicted here.
As the
piece began to appear before me, I began to see across the
centuries. As my eyes traveled through the setting, my
mind visited
- The past when the
woman with the alabaster box anointed Jesus.
- The past -see Him
on the far right on the cross just outside one of the
doors.
- The past and
present where Holy Spirit is sent to come along side and
enable our prayer and worship.
- The present –where
you are there with Him.
- The future to the
time when the Bride walks through the door to the place
He has prepared.
- The lamp –He is a
lamp unto our path
- The laver –where
the water of the word washes her.
- The harp –a further
semblance of worship.
I can see
Jesus on the cross, His gaze spanning past, present
future, seeing the faces of all that were and all that
were to come. In those moments, once again we see His
dominion over time. There with His life and purpose
hanging in the balance He was moved with compassion and
took upon Himself the sins of the world. What about the
woman in Matthew and Mark? Had she seen beyond to the time
of the Master’s crucifixion? Did she sense that time was
running out?
See Him
on the cross where He foresaw all the sins you would ever
commit –there He bore them for you. Step into this place
…become His Alabaster Box …poised in an attitude of
worship. Pour out upon Him your abounding-overflowing love
with all that is within you. Bring your tears, your pain,
your praise, your supplication –give Him all that you are
and all that you are not. Your life unto Him is a sweet
fragrance. May He ever experience it as you wait upon Him.
Abide with Him until the time that the Father sends word
to come home. You and He are the only ones in the room –He
is reaching to bring you higher with Him …into your place
in His kingdom.
